“Al Muheet” Tours by Samy El-Ghibani

Al Muheet was established in 2002 by Samy El-Ghibani, an experienced tour manager, upon his return to Libya after running tours in the UK. Based in Tripoli and Benghazi, Al-Muheet is recognized as a leader in Libya's blossoming tourism industry. From the forbidding dunes and mirage-like oases of the interior sand seas to the spectacular historic sites on the Mediterranean coast, Libya is a truly unique holiday destination.

Libya was one of the focal points of the ancient world, playing host throughout history to the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Greeks, Romans, Vandals, and Byzantines. The Greeks and Romans left impressive ruins at Cyrene, Leptis Magna, and Sabratha. The Greek name 'Libya' has its origins in the Egyptian word 'Lebu', which referred to the Indigenous Berber nomads of the region. Some of their ancestors still lead a traditional desert lifestyle today. The Arabs conquered Libya in the 7th century AD, and in subsequent centuries most of the population adopted the Arabic language and culture and later, Islam. For several centuries, Libya was part of the empire of the Ottoman Turks, and for a time was an Italian colony after WWII. When Libya declared its independence in 1951, it was the first country to achieve independence through the United Nations and one of the first former European colonies in Africa to gain its liberty. After several decades of being off the itinerary of most tourists, Libya has once again opened her doors to guests. Al Muheet can organize visas and tour packages to suit your budget and desired program.

Sincerely Samy El-Ghibani
